It’s International Women’s Day.
On air, both myFM and Oldies 99.7 are taking time to highlight female artists and we are taking this opportunity in the newsroom to speak to some amazing women in our community.
Starting today, and throughout this week, we will be checking in with our some of our Women Of Influence to see how they are doing during this pandemic and what they have on their plate moving forward.
Gail Catherwood is always busy working with various groups and organizations to make Norfolk County better, but during a time where gatherings were not permitted or limited, it was a learning curve for the long-time volunteer.
She talks about adapting to the times to still help the community.
Jess Bommarito has had an interesting 2020 going into 2021.
She started Groundswell Coworking 2 years ago, knowing people who work from home would love the idea of a shared office space – only to have a pandemic show up and have all those individuals move back to their home office.
Jess talked about personal growth, the struggles, and the positive-looking future.
Claire Senko lives and breathes the arts, and during a time that saw Old Town Hall shut down for extended periods, she tried her best to still bring that joy of music and theatre to people.
Through live streams, outside concerts, and more – Claire talked about trying to keep the soul feed during these hard times and the amazing people who have helped her along the way.
In fact, she spoke in-depth about those helping out at Town Hall and realizing that the future of the art scene in Waterford is in great hands.
Karen Matthews had an interesting time during this pandemic and a great big adventure on the horizon.
Karen spoke about running Burning Kiln Winery during on and off lockdowns, trying to find new ways to keep people interested when they do not wish to travel, and of course, the big next steps running in the next federal election as the Liberal Party candidate locally.
We will be checking in with other Women of Influence throughout the week.
Until then, you can catch up on the 18 women we’ve highlighted in the community to date here and here.
