Former owner of 98.9, Blair Daggett, has passed away.
Blair, along with business partner Jim MacLeod, owned the station from 2000 to 2012.
He did that by creating deep bonds with those in the community.
He retired in 2013 after an almost 40-year career in radio broadcast, leaving his mark on those he worked with.
In his 13 years in Norfolk County, Blair worked tirelessly to build the radio station to what it is today. He forged strong bonds with organizations like the Norfolk County Fair & Horse Show, Rotary, Norfolk Golf & Country Club, Simcoe & District Chamber of Commerce, and Norfolk General Hospital.
Karen Matthews, former general manager of the Norfolk County Fair, said she turned to Blair in her first year at NCF.
Jon Pole, president of My Broadcasting Company, was impressed with the legacy Blair created at the Simcoe radio station.
Many broadcasters in the area, including 98.9 myFM and 99.7 Oldies GM Alan Duthie, learned from Blair.
Close friends of Blair, including Phil Race, remember all of the different activities and adventures they enjoyed with him.
Another close friend, Steve Szucs, recalls all of the things Blair was passionate about.
Blair battled Parkinson’s for 12 years.
He was husband to Helen, father to Eric and step father to Rueben and Keri-Ann.
He was 66.
For Gerry, he said the lessons taught to him by Blair transcended that over the job and made him a better individual.
On Sunday, Gerry dedicated his Sunday Morning Music Vault to Blair, with songs he enjoyed and stories from around the office and beyond.
