With a province wide shutdown now in affect, many businesses have closed up shop for an extended period of time.
Much like the previous lockdown, hair dressers are included in this list but many feel they are unfairly being grouped with other businesses deemed non-essential.
President of the Ontario Professional Hairstylist Association Debbie Dunseath says of the 180 plus salons she has spoken to since the announcement, none of them have had a single COVID-19 case because they are prepared and educated on how to keep viruses away or under control.
Likewise, for months now, they have been reporting to the government showing that they are safe and she is questioning why this needed to be done if that information was not take into consideration.
Continuing, she adds that when you look at the service they do provide, she believes it should be viewed as essential.
Dunseath is asking hairdressers to send them information regarding COVID-19 and their establishment so that they can send information off to the Ford Government showing the low risk associated with their trade.
