For 15 years, Denise Boniface has helped run Bryden’s Den Neonate Wildlife Care Centre in Port Ryerse with her husband.
Now, after learning the facility was improperly zoned, she says they’ve had to close the centre.
Officially recognized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, Boniface explains what they do at the Wildlife Care Centre.
Boniface says that she’s now working with Norfolk County, hoping to prove they are a vital service to the community.
She certainly believes they are.
She continues, adding that her neighbours have been incredibly supportive.
With that support from the community, Boniface is hopeful others may be inspired to become authorized wildlife rehabilitators.
Boniface says that if there are people interested in helping out, she’s more than willing to help them get started.
If you are interested in becoming an authorized wildlife rehabilitator, the details can be found here.
