During these uncertain times, some people stuck at home have gained an appreciation for the arts, but for Nikki Campbell Schram it was already on a high pedestal.
While people in self-isolation are getting newfound respect for the art world, Schram is happy that people are taking this time to appreciate the value of these creators.
Schram, of course, is well known in the community for all the different roles she plays in the art world and how she shares that love and passion with children.
Whether it be on the stage for Drama Kidz (where a group of youngsters work hard to put on high-quality shows) or using their Art With Heart studio – the goal is always to encourage children and allow them to grow at their own pace.
Schram says children need to have the freedom to explore while creating art, and in that growth, you can also add some compassion.
She used her art studio to encourage kids to have fun trick or treating before Halloween in Port Dover to collect donations for area food banks with Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat.
The event sees many homes stock up on canned goods and other items, waiting for youngsters in costumes to stop by to collect the donations.
You’ll be hard-pressed not to find Schram without a smile on her face when she’s in the classroom or out in the community with the kids.
She’s made it her mission to remember all the kid’s names and make a personal connection.
She feels that just like all the other aspects of learning in a child’s upbringing – the arts are essential.
