An employee at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada in Cambridge has tested positive for COVID-19.
In an email sent to the station from their official media team, they say were notified by Hamilton Public Health about the positive test result.
The employee’s last shift at the factory was on March 12th and has been off since to minimize risk to others.
The email says TMMC health centre immediately contacted public health authorities and followed appropriate protocols.
Affected employee – as well as those identified as having had close contact with the individual – will remain in self-isolation and will not return to work until being cleared by a physician.
They are now in the process of deep cleaning and disinfecting all areas in which the employees were working.
They add that the health and safety of our team members, business partners and communities is our top priority.
The Cambridge and Woodstock locations are scheduled to close on Monday and Tuesday next week to provide them with an opportunity to prepare to adjust their plans for upcoming school and other facility closures.
Employees at Simcoe’s Toyotetsu plant tell us that they will remain open during these two days.
We have reached out for confirmation locally but have not heard back at this time.
