A lot can change in a few hours when it comes to COVID-19.
Monday morning we spoke with Chair of Norfolk’s Agricultural Advisory Board Dusty Zamecnik about seasonal workers coming into Norfolk.
At that time he said a fair share of migrant workers are already here and more are coming in this week.
Then, in the early afternoon, strong travel restrictions were put in place by the federal government.
Ottawa announced border closure measures yesterday, barring most foreign nationals from entering the country — except Americans.
Canadian citizens displaying symptoms of the novel coronavirus will also be restricted from boarding Canada bound flights.
Just yesterday morning, Zamecnik said that farmers were busy over the past few weeks trying to put their workers overseas minds at ease as there was some fear about entering into Canada during the outbreak.
He said they have also been busy making sure they are ready for them to arrive.
Obviously, this is still new and more information is needed from the Federal government.
Once we have more information on when migrant workers will arrive, we will update you.
