The Long Point Region Conservation Authority is teaming up with local municipalities to update and create new flood hazard mapping.
The project will involve taking inventory of at-risk infrastructure and estimating damage potential to update municipal risk assessment information for flood-prone communities in the Long Point Region.
Data collected from the project will help with land use planning and permitting decisions, flood-related emergency response and mitigation planning.
The LPRCA believes that the project will be completed by early 2020.
They add that they’ll be hosting open house format Public Information Centres next month to answer questions about the project, share project information, receive feedback and gather public knowledge of local conditions.
You can visit one of their PIC’s at the LPRCA Administration Office in Tillsonburg on November 26th, at the Simcoe Recreation Centre on November 27th and in Vienna at the Community Centre on November 28th, all running from 6-8 pm.
