A sixth candidate has announced plans to enter the federal election campaign in Haldimand-Norfolk.
Harold Stewart Jr. of Vittoria, a founding member of the Veterans Coalition Party of Canada, will represent the party locally.
Stewart tells us a near-death experience gave him a new look on life after his lung collapsed.
He said this triggered within him a drive to get into politics.
Stewart tells us it is clear Canadians want a change from the major political parties.
He says his party wants to cut taxes and reduce the age of retirement to 55 and better support the Canadian Pension Plan.
Stewart was a member of the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery when, 20 years ago, he served for two years in Bosnia. He has turned his attention to politics now that he is collecting a military pension.
Stewart will be going up against Conservative Diane Finley, Liberal Kim Huffman, Bob Forbes of the People’s Party of Canada, Lilly Eggink of the Christian Heritage Party, Ross Mogridge of the Libertarian Party and Brooke Martin of the Green Party.
