8 Wing Trenton recent got a bit of a local connection when their new Wing Commander was announced.
Simcoe native Colonel Ryan Deming takes over, returning to the base where he began his career.
Deming has been involved in the Canadian Armed Forces since 1993 which he attributes to his father being a private pilot, having a neighbour who was a cropduster and aircraft mechanic, and his grandfather serving in WW2.
Colonel Deming thanks the support of leaders in his youth having encouraged him to accomplish his dreams.
Deming has some advice for anyone listening who may be interested in following a similar career path to him.
“There’s a lot of excitement in a job like this, but at the end of the day it’s about a higher calling and going out and serving your country”.
