Will landlords be forced to pay delinquent water accounts? Council votes today

Landlords in the county are on the clock.

Today’s the day that Port Rowan area councilor Noel Haydt will ask Townhall to force landlords to cover the bills for tenants who don’t pay their water bills.

His motion comes as the county’s taxpayers are forced to cover the bill at an average of $100,000 per year.

So far, at least two people will speak on the matter.

We can tell you that policies in Brant and Hamilton force the owner of a building to pay delinquent water accounts.

Council will vote on the matter beginning at 3 p.m. this afternoon.
