Environment Canada is saying that we could see a UV Index of 11 or Extreme on Thursday.
These high UV levels are rare in Canada, with a UV index of 11 or higher typically seen in the tropics and the southern USA.
Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says with that sun beating down people need to take precautions.
If you are heading to the beach, know that white sand and other bright surfaces reflect UV rays and increase UV exposure.
Coulson does add that there is some relief on the way, with a chance for showers in the afternoon and thunderstorms in the evening that may be severe.
Coulson says this will lead to a cold front coming through on Friday, ending this heat wave.
