The PC’s are getting set to scrap carbon taxes in Ontario

The Progressive Conservatives plan to use every power available to challenge the federal governmentÂ’s authority to impose a carbon tax on Ontario families, individuals, and small businesses.

Premier-designate Doug Ford made this his first official push late last week, announcing when he is officially seated as Premier they will be tackling what he calls the cap-and-trade scheme.

No one is happier to hear this and Haldimand-Norfolk MPP, Toby Barrett.

Barrett has long been pushing against Cap-and-Trade and the Carbon Tax, and now that his party is in power, he is hoping to see it dismantled.

Ford also announced that Ontario would be serving notice of its withdrawal from the joint agreement linking Ontario, Quebec and California’s cap-and-trade markets as well as the pro-carbon tax Western Climate Initiative.

Barrett said that eliminating the carbon tax and cap-and-trade is the first step to lowering taxes and bringing gas prices down by 10 cents per liter.
