The Long Point Causeway Bridge will be fixed sooner rather than later.
Originally scheduled to be fully repaired in 2024, Councillor Noel Haydt requested that the bridge get fixed immediately.
Just recently, and after serious safety concerns were raised, the bridge received temporary repairs so that larger vehicles could travel over, but speed bumps and speed reductions remain in place.
Haydt pleaded with his fellow councilors to push this forward and get it done as soon as possible.
With the cost penciled in this year for the causeway road and the bridge combined, council was looking at an estimated $11 million price tag in total.
In the end, our elected officials voted in favour of moving the project up and getting fixed as soon as possible.
