Ottawa invests millions of dollars to advance innovation and growth in Canada’s wine sector

The federal government is spending 8.4 million dollars to help ensure Canada’s wine industry continues to grow.

The money will go to the Canadian Grapevine Certification Network.

The network is to do research to help growers better protect their crops, test new wine varieties and analyze growing practices.

Ottawa is also spending another 1.5 million dollars to help the Canadian Vintner’s Association market wine around the world.

Agriculture Canada estimates the wine industry generated 1.2 billion dollars in 2016 and employs for than 5,600 people.
