Noel Haydt will not be seeking reelection.
The Ward 1 Councillor made the announcement following Tuesday nights council meeting.
Haydt noted the meeting that started at 9 a.m. the week before that he could not attend as an example of why he was stepping down.
He said that with meetings like this he couldn’t conduct his businesses and work at council at the same time.
With Haydt’s announcement, this means council will be entering a “Lame Duck” period next month which takes away most of their ability to make major decisions such as hiring, firing, and the approving significant projects.
Councillors Harold Sonnenberg and Jim Oliver previously announced they are not seeking reelection, meaning three of the nine men sitting around Town Hall will not be returning.
John Wells is still a lingering question mark as he initially announced his retirement then came forward saying he does plan on running again this year.
Since that announcement, the current Port Dover Councillor has yet to file his paperwork to stay on as a Councillor.
