Families taking full advantage of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is making waves in Norfolk County.

Since the program launched at the Norfolk County Public Library last year — some 176 children have registered for the program.

Children whose families sign up are posted free books, which are paid for from sponsors.

Library CEO Heather King says they value early literacy and suggets the program is a key to that which introduces reading at an early age.

King says they are currently looking for volunteers so they can expand the program.

Dolly Parton’s initiative, that she set up in honour of her illiterate father, has handed out over 100 million free books wordwide.
