Don’t pay rent for a year: County offers incentive for entrepreneurs to open up shop in downtown Simcoe

Norfolk County is taking a significant first step to help revitalize downtown, Simcoe.

They are offering new businesses the chance of not having to pay rent for an entire year.

Councillor Peter Black says it’s part of county’s Downtown Secondary Plan.

On Tuesday, the county entered into a year-long lease agreement at 56 Norfolk Street North.

The County says entrepreneurs can submit their business plan to the county for a chance to not have to pay rent payments for one year.

Black says this is all thanks to a recent government grant.

More information is expected in the coming weeks as to how a business can apply.
