A Lame Duck Council could begin by August

Unless something significant changes, we are entering into what is called a Lame Duck Council.

Noel Haydt announced he would be stepping away from politics, leaving three members of council not seeking re-election.

When less than 75 percent of our current council seeking office — a lame duck council is put in place.

It places restrictions on councilors to prevent them from making costly decisions until a new government is brought in.

We spoke with County Clerk Andy Grozelle.

A lot of power will be designated to CAO David Cribbs in August when Council enters a lame duck situation.

Also, council will now only run every two weeks.

Council-in-committee meetings will be posted on hold until a new council sits.
