October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and women across Canada are being reminded to stay "breast aware."

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

Health experts say women should pay attention to their body, and if they notice a change or an abnormality in their breast, they should contact their healthcare provider.

Dr. Alexandra Ginty with Cancer Care Ontario says another significant factor in keeping yourself safe, is to be aware of your family history.
