DOWNTOWN PATIOS A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, BUSINESS OWNERS SAY
9/13/2017 7:11:54 AM

While some people may have wished for a warmer summer, the temperature was just right for business owners in downtown Simcoe to cash in.

For the second year in a row, Rachel McFarland, who owns McFarland's Old Type Sweet Shoppe, says her store saw tremendous growth thanks to the county allowing sidewalk patios over the summer.

Serafina Good Food also participated in the patio pilot project.

Co-owner Guy Labone believes it's a step in the right direction for our downtown.

There were concerns raised by the public that these sidewalk patios eliminated parking spots, but Downtown Simcoe BIA General Manager Jim McGimpsey stated earlier that the initiative only cut four spots.
