As we head towards winter our local food banks good use a boost. Donations for area food banks tend to dwindle during the summer months and right now that's the case at the Waterford District Food Cupboard. Officials say they shelves are a little bare.

A fresh face has emerged on Norfolk County Council. At age 46 Noel Hadyt will be the youngest member of council. He won a tight race on Monday night edging out incumbent Betty Chanyi to win the seat in Ward 1.

A 30 year old man from Norfolk is facing drug trafficking charges after a vehicle was pulled over on 1st Concession Road. Police say the Street Crime Unit stopped the vehicle on Middleton Townline Road.

A 60 year old man is doing just fine after being trapped inside his vehicle for about an hour on the Causeway heading into Long Point. The man veered into the ditch yesterday afternoon slamming into a tree.

CORPORAL NATHAN CIRILLO LAID TO REST

Thousands of people lined the streets of Hamilton yesterday and crowded into a church to remember slain soldier, Corporal Nathan Cirillo. Several people from Norfolk made the trek down to pay their respects, including many from the OPP and our local Fire Department.

BRUNTON EXCITED TO BE A VOICE IN WARD 5

People in Simcoe had 10 candidates to choose from and they voted in a familiar face, while also voting in a new one at the same time. Incumbent Peter Black and newly elected Doug Brunton have been selected by the people as their Ward 5 representatives for the next four years.

CHANYI SAYS GOODBYE TO TOWN HALL

Former Ward 1 Councillor Betty Chanyi says she will miss her time serving the residents of Norfolk at Town Hall. Noel Haydt took down Chanyi by just 84 votes to become the new voice of the Port Rowan area. Chanyi had this advice to share with Haydt going forward.
