Do not leave the kitchen when you're cooking food. That's the message from Norfolk's Fire Prevention Officer Scott Pipe after a homeowner on Forestry Farm Road contacted the fire department after a blaze broke out in their kitchen.

MAN KILLED IN HIGHWAY 24 CRASH

One man is dead after two vehicles collided on Highway 24. The Brant County OPP were called to the highway between Elliot and Oakland Road on Thursday night after a vehicle traveling southbound crossed the center line and crashed into an oncoming car.

LYNN RIVER MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL BEGINS FRIDAY NIGHT

According to organizers, this year's Lynn River Music and Arts Festival entertainment lineup will be nothing of spectacular at Simcoe's Wellington Park. They will have not one, not two, but three entertainment stages this year. Musical acts will be performed each day at 10 a.m.

BLUEBERRY FEST TAKES PLACE THIS WEEKEND

The third annual Blueberry Fest takes over Kent Kreek Berries this weekend. Kent Kreek Berries, which is just west of Simcoe, will also have face painting and birds of prey on site for the kids. Owner Paula Zelem says the day is to celebrate everything Blueberry.

MOVE OVER OR BE FINED

Provincial police say last year saw one of the highest numbers of charges laid against drivers who failed to slow down and move over for roadside emergency vehicles since the move over law was enacted in 2003. The O-P-P laid more than two thousand charges under the law last year.

LOBLAW LOOKING INTO ACCURACY OF COIN-COUNTING MACHINES

Loblaw is launching an investigation into the accuracy of the coin-counting kiosks used in their stores. This inquiry stems from TD Bank getting rid of the same machine used in Loblaw locations from their branches over allegations that they were inaccurate.
