Ontario released its 2015 graduation rates for our local school boards and Grand Erie once again ranked near the bottom. On the four-year graduation scale, high schools within the Grand Erie Board improved slightly to 62.3 percent and for five years they were 74 percent.

With no bulk pick up this year, help is on the way for homeowners in Simcoe who may have any scrap metal or electronic items they want to throw away. On the 14th and 15th of this month, any broken or damaged items will be removed from your home free of charge by firefighters in Simcoe.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Services are crediting working smoke alarms for potentially saving a woman's life in Waterford. Just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday, fire crews were called to Concession 11 Townsend after a female discovered heavy smoke coming from the basement.

OPP BRIEFS INCLUDE GARBAGE DUMPED ON DRIVEWAY

A 25-year old woman is facing charges after a shoplifting incident took place in Simcoe. It happened at the Jordan Stewart store on Norfolk Street South around noon time on Friday. 25-year old Chantal Marie Wetherup has been charged with theft under $5,000 and breaking a probation order.

SIMCOE SEALS RETURN HOME WITH 63 MEDALS

The Simcoe Seals brought back plently of hardware after blowing the competition out of the water at the Defi Sportif AlterGo in Montreal. The swim team grabbed a total of 63 medals -- 30 gold, 19 silver and 14 bronze at the international athletic competition for athletes with disabilities.

3 TRANSPORT TRUCKS SET ON FIRE AND MULTIPLE ATTEMPTED THEFTS IN HALDIMAND

The Haldimand OPP were busy Sunday after multiple vehicles were lit on fire, and several attempted thefts were made. At 2 a.m. Haldimand County Fire Services were sent out to New Credit to extinguish a fire set to a transport truck taken from Contrans Flatbed Group Inc.
