RABID CAT BITES RESIDENT IN CALEDONIA

A Caledonia resident is being treated by healthcare providers after they were bitten by a rabid stray cat. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency notified the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit on Thursday about the incident and informed them that the cat tested positive for rabies.

A 23-year old is facing a careless driving charge in connection with a crash that sent four people to hospital, including a one-year-old child. The two-vehicle collision happened at the intersection of Highway 6 and the Second Line near Hagersville early Thursday afternoon.

A 43-year-old Haldimand County man has been charged with assault in Caledonia. The incident occurred on Friday after an argument broke out between two men about a road rage incident that took place four months prior.

COUNTY SELLS PORT DOVER MEDICAL CENTRE TO COMMITTEE GROUP

The Port Dover Medical Centre is no longer a property of Norfolk County. On Tuesday, it was officially sold to the Port Dover Health Centre Committee for $420,000 meaning the other two bidders, Steve Willaert and Mike Marini, have had their hopes of owning the building torn away.

Farmers and weather experts say dry conditions this summer are expected to take a toll on crop production in Norfolk and rest across Ontario. The province has been hit by drought in many areas with production of soybeans and corn for grain expected to drop significantly this year.
