HARPER PROMISES TO SPEND $200-MILLION ON HIGH-SPEED BROADBAND INTERNET ACCESS IN RURAL AREAS

Good news is coming for those without access to high speed internet services. Stephen Harper has promised an additional $200 million to improve broadband services in rural areas and remote communities if elected in October.

THE BELLS WILL RING AGAIN AT PORT DOVER'S ICONIC CLOCK TOWER

After sitting silent for years, the bells will chime once again at Port Dover's iconic clock tower. Richard Dupp, who go the clock ticking again in May, tells myFM he has also figured out how to get the bells to ring again.

CROSSING GUARDS PLEADING WITH DRIVERS TO STOP FOR STUDENTS

Drivers not stopping for crossing guards while walking students across the street was a big problem last year. In fact, it was so bad on Queen and Union, that former crossing guard Robert Gautier asked council to reduce the speed to 40 km and hour.

SHOES STOLEN AT MCDONALDS DRIVE-THRU

It appears thieves in Simcoe are willing to steal anything these days. Police say an unknown man made off with someone's shoes while they were waiting at the McDonald's drive thru.

FATHER ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING HIS SON TO APPEAR BACK IN COURT ON TUESDAY

Another week, another bail hearing, another postponement. The father accused of assaulting his three year old son with a weapon was back in court today for a bail hearing. He asked for the hearing to be moved to next week. He has now appeared before a judge four times.

NORFOLK OPP OFFICER FACING ASSAULT CHARGES

A Norfolk OPP officer has been charged with three counts of assault by the Huron County OPP Crime Unit. Police were contacted to investigate allegations of assault on August 26 with charges being laid the next day for the 8 year member of the Norfolk County OPP.

We may learn a little bit more today regarding the fate of a 22-year old Simcoe father accused of severely assaulting his three year old son with a weapon. He's back in bail court this afternoon.

RARE BILLS STOLEN FROM SIMCOE HOME

A tough loss for a home owner on 13th Street West in Simcoe. Burglars broke into their home on Wednesday and stole several $20 Canadian bills from the 1980's, 1990's and 2000's. In the meantime, police are now asking businesses to be on alert.
